The Fairy Godmothers of Fashion
OMG - I BECAME A REAL LIFE FAIRY GODMOTHER!
The event "The fairy godmothers of fashion", hosted by Allied London was to launch The Old Granada studio space, which is based in Manchester. ( The old Coronation street studios don't you know) In only 3 hours we took a product by Rosie Dobby, an emerging designer, and created a brand. Each fairy godmother had a different skill from identity to styling to marketing and PR, not for getting photography by yours truly and helped to mould Rosie's ideas into a strong brand ready to go. Each of us talked through our process to Rosie and the live audience - Yes thats right a live audience! The pressure was on and the nerves of actually having to talk through what I was doing to a crowd hit but it was so much fun working with other members of the panel and meeting lots of creatives at the event that all apprehensions quickly disappeared. On our panel we had L' Oreal Blackett from Manchester confidential, Gina Grady our fab stylist from JD, Eve Jones from The Sisterhood, Dior Bediako from Pepper your talk , Chloe from Branded Lab PR, Matt from We are Gntlmen and Rebecca Collins from Introsbective and became a dream team for one afternoon to allow a brand to find out what was possible for them and what you can achieve on a starting budget and a short space of time. One of the Top Tips I learnt is that with anything you need to be clear about what your brand is, create a story for your brand, and make your costumers aware so they can identify with your brand. Advice which I think is valid for many kinds of businesses from photography, bloggers, food or fashion.
Considering we had all only met and seen the product about 10 mins before we had started the chemistry was amazing and we all pulled together to pull out all the stops. I'm happy to say I look forward to working with some familiar faces from the event soon!
The images look really great and I got so many wonderful comments and feedback after the show, although I'm sure this is down to our stunning model Waly from J'adore models, only 4 months in to modelling I can't express how impressed I was with her professionalism and way she worked the camera. That girl is going to go FAR!
We did what we set out to do and had a very happy brand owner at the end of it.
