Golden Girl

Golden hour.

That magical time of the day (when its sunny) when the sun is low in the sky, the temperature in the air is cooling and a golden glow is cast over everything the light touches. This is one of my favorite times to shoot- scroll down to see why!

Lara and I had been wanting to shoot together for ages after following each other on Instagram for months. One sunny afternoon in Manchester, after I had been in a dark studio all day I thought to myself, its just too nice not to shoot outside. So I messaged Lara to see if she was about, Luckily for me she was! We planned to meet after work and both brought some denim clothes with us to style up.

I had walked past a spot of over large daisies the evening before about 8 pm and there had been the most beautiful light hitting the flowers. I knew I would have to shoot asap if I wanted it to still look as good as it did when I saw it. Its no use going back months later, what you saw before would be gone.

While we waiting for 8pm we took some high contrast pictures directly facing the sun (which I will post later on this week) and we may of had a cheeky glass of vino and a catch up in a near by bar.

Lara did very well with the heat, hay fever and me bossing her about in to different poses and I am super happy with how the pictures came out. They are exactly what I had in my imagination. Its a very addictive feeling of excitement when what you photograph turns out just how you wanted.
