Ok so the title might make this post sound a more serious than it actually is.. It's basically a list of where I go to find inspiration.  They are places which never fail me. A few months ago I was feeling slightly uninspired. I had ideas in my head but wasn't sure how to execute them properly or well... The more this went on, the more I felt stuck in a bit of a creative rut. To help me get out of this rut and back on to my creative horse I decided to make a list of all the places I turn to in times of creative trouble. These are resources I can go back to time and time again and they constantly inspire me in new ways. I love finding new places to look for inspiration so please share where you love to look in the comments below.

Photography agencies:

Photography agencies normally have the best signed photographers, so what a better place to start then look at some of the leading agencies to see what everyone has been creating and find some inspiration to the standard your photography can get to! Below are just a few of my favourites.

Magazines I love:

Although looking online can be great for inspiration, sometimes its hard to process everything your seeing as there is so much of it! There is NOTHING I love more then looking through a magazine and tearing out the pages of the! This is a method I have been using since my teens.. or even pre teens. I also then either keep everything in a folder or choose some to pin to a physical board to keep up in the apartment or studio to keep looking at and inspiring me.

Here a list of the magazines I always buy!

Wrap Magazine

Kinfolk

Industrie

Love Magazine  ( I particually love the article below for some homewear inspo Love magazine article )

Films I love:

I was once told by the best hair stylist in the world.. ( I will let you guess who that was) that films are a great place to get inspiration from so since then I have been trying to watch different movies to use as inspiration. From these films you can take away the cinematography. the costumes, the colour grading, the storyline or maybe even the characters.

Photographers I love:

There are many photographers who's work I follow. The first work I really truly fell in love with was this picture (shown above) by Tim Walker. This picture has been stuck by my bed since I was a teenager. Forget celeb crushes! The walls of my room was covered in torn out pages of Vogue!

Remember that it is always a good to idea to keep an eye out to see if your favourite photographers are exhibiting anywhere. Seeing work displayed on a gallery wall is just so much more impressive then in the magazines. I usually leave the gallery in a state of awe!

Here are just some of the photographers who's work inspires me daily.

Tim Walker

Dean Chalkley

Alasdair Mclellan

Rankin

Cecil Beaton

Terry O'Neill

Patrick Demarchelier

Jay Brooks

Andrew Shaylor

Paolo Roversi

Duffy

The list could go on and on…

Gallerys I love

Talking about exhibitions I thought it might be a good idea to include some of the galleries I love to visit.

First up - I just want to mention "My Generation" which is currently on Carnaby Street in London. Its free so there is no excuses! It features work by two of the photographers in my list above. I felt extremely giddy when viewing the prints up close and not from a book, especially considering I didn't know this exhibition was on until I walked pasted it and headed straight in... dragging my friend with me!
