FEELING 22

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] I don’t know about you but I still feel 22 . For those of you who are over 25 –you know what I mean, for those of you who are still 16-24 – make the most of it you will soon become old and haggard just like the rest of us. "The horrifying moment you realise you’re looking for an adult, but you’re an adult so you’re looking for an older adult. Someone successfully adulating. A adultier adult." I once saw this quote on Instagram and it sums up my life completely. Don’t get me wrong. I am very grown up and mature but yet there is still childish ways about me. I haven’t quite yet made it to adult. I do my make up by sitting on the floor in front of the mirror. I own a Mulberry hand bag but drive a 10 year old run down Peugeot which costs as much as the bag. I'm saving for a house but yet still spend more then I save on clothes I don’t mostly get ID'd any more but then I do I get offended. I still get excited about Pancake Day just because it means I can have excess Nutella! I have grown up responsibilities myself but still need my mum and dad. My friends and I constantly have remind each other how old we are. Are we 26 or27… 26? When did we get so old! With every engagement I have to remind myself that it isn’t shocking we are not 16, we are not too young. You count the years since you left uni, since you were at school. The word reunion pops up. All of a sudden you stop and think.. Whow.. is this where my life is? Is this where I’m supposed to be? In the naivety of my 12 year old self, 26 seemed so far away, I probably thought I would have several children, a marriage and a home by now but as you get older you realise your still young. There are so many places I want to see, things I want to do, to achieve and in some ways I am still too selfish.

I think it is important in this situation to remind yourself, there are no targets, no right or wrongs of when to do things or where you should be in your life when you hit a certain age. I have friends who are 30, single and are still having fun. It doesn’t matter. I think we are in an age of comparison. Everyone else’s lives are online for us to see, you look at other people and then yourself. You can find yourself wanting what they have. You can even start to regret that you didn’t do something sooner and when you’re not looking online you are reminded by your family, with contestant questions as to why you haven’t done certain things yet. Just remind yourself that whatever you did at that time was right for you then. The choices you make, the people you meet are all part of your journey and whatever you do make sure you choose the rules for your own life. Below is a real life conversation between a bunch of 26 year olds on what app... just to show you that it is completely normal.
