Earth day| My sustainable wardrobe
As it is Earth day I would do a focused post on the most sustainable items on my wardrobe. These are pieces which I know are going to last me for years and years and which my cost per wear is probably lower then one penny right now as I have worn them so much. They are not trend led but are staple classics which will see me through all the style trends I see on Instagram.
Sustainable tips:
Of course, we all know the most sustainable option is to not wear clothes but I don’t think any of us are about to do that anytime soon.
The second most sustainable option is to just wear and re wear what you already have in your wardrobe.
The third is to swap clothes with friends and family.
The fourth is to buy from charity or vintage shops.
The 5th is to buy from the most brands who are doing their bit to leave minimal carbon footprint on the world .
The 6th is to buy from local independent shops.
The 7th is to buy from the stores you love but buy less and make sure you make conscious choices and get your cost per wear out of all you do buy.
And whichever one you choose to do it is important not to feel guilty but to know you are doing your best in the sociality we were brought up in. as long as we continue to educate ourselves on where our clothes come from, how they are made and how that affects our world I am sure we will continue to change our consumer behaviour and aim to shop more and more sustainably
I wanted to show you some of the most sustainable items in my wardrobe.. Where I got them from.. Where you can get something similar… Next week I will be creating a style post, showing you some of my favourite ways to style each item so be sure to come back for that or subscribe so that you don’t miss it.
My grannys mac - A hand me down from my granny a couple of years ago as she doesn’t wear it any more. It fast became the most worn item in my wardrobe!

The Russell and Bromley boots - What I love most about Russell and Bromley is that their products last forever. I have a pair of their shoes which I have had for 7 years, worn to death and they still look good as new. They have also recently stepped up and shown just how caring a company they are by closing all stores and their online site due to COVID 19 so that no one in their company who can’t work from home has to come in contact with each other. Heroes.

The leather jacket - Something I was really missing from my wardrobe was a leather jacket. I was wearing so many outfits and thinking… IF only I had a leather jacket to throw on top of this it would really elevate my look.. I decided I didn’t want to buy new as a leather jackets are fairly common and wardrobe staple piece so knew a lot of second hand ones would be floating around. I headed to the vintage shops in Manchester but sadly had no luck ( I was very pacific about how I wanted it to fit) Eventually I found one second hand on Depop and it was worth the search because I absolutely love it. It is real leather.. I was just after a faux one but in my excitement of finding a style I liked at a cheep price I just assumed it was fake.. sadly not.. which kind of freaked me out a bit when I first wore it but I guess I still wear leather shoes so its not something I can be too fussy about.. however ideally it would have been faux leather.

Bimba Y Lola bag - I use this bag so much. It goes with every single outfit. I love the bold text, the size and the dress up dress down ways and I just generally wear use it everyday - I’m sure you will spot it in some of the other pictures I’ve popped up on this post!
Everlane bag - another Fab bag which I wear all the time. I basically switch between the two
Daisy T bar Necklace - I do harp on about this necklace a lot but I have worn it almost everyday for nearly a year… In the pool, the sea, with perfume, in the shower, honestly never take it off and it still looks fabulous. It's also a fab piece to layer up with other necklaces too.
Arket Blazer - it has become apparent in my group of friends that the best place to buy a blazer from is Arket!
The checked jacket - One of my proudest vintage finds and a fab item for layering in the winter or wearing with some denim shorts in the summer.
The BA&SH checked one - ok I have more then one checked jackets but they both get a lot of wear and I love them both dearly.. plus they’re different colours so that oks
The Arket T-shirt - I’ve said it time and time again- Arket T- shirts are by far the best basic tees out there! This has been worn far too much, washes well, isn’t see through and is just such a wardrobe staple ! I have also recently got it in blue too and sized up for a more baggy fit.
Checked leggings - Now these are not a wardrobe staple...In Fact I’m sure in many people's wardrobe they would in fact be quite a risky item. Neither are they from a sustainable shop but the amount of wear I have had from them...let's just say they are also in the minus if we are going cost per wear! They are great for throwing on around the house, perfect for that time of the month as they are nice and stretchy… fab for working in the studio as I can move freely in them!
